G-apsa.jpg (35582 bytes)    This is DC6A G-APSA in the livery of Air Atlantique or Atlantic Airlines for those who are not familar with the French language. The picture was taken in 2001. G-APSA was purchased by the then Eagle Airways in 1958. I calculate that some 45 years after G-APSA was first put on the British register it is still flying. To help relieve the stress and strain on what is now a 50 year old airframe I understand that it is flown un-pressurised and then only on sunny days.

Dc-6a_eagle.jpg (34846 bytes)    The caption says Blackbushe September 1958. G-APON. Well the picture tells the truth as you will see when you click on it.

G-apo.jpg (28734 bytes)   The scene -- Schipol Airport Amsterdam 1958 behind a DC6 of  KLM. Can you recognise the 5 gentlemen fronting the photo??

Photo1.jpg (41270 bytes)     With the award of the contract to carry special freight to the testing range at Woomera South Australia in 1962 the company was temporarily short of Flight Engineers. The then Tasman Empire Airlines (TEAL) subsequently Air New Zealand stepped in with the loan of three of theirs. Pictured here in Trafalgar Square shortly after ther arrival are Jim Robertson, Bert Carlyon and Jim Cranston. The photo kindly supplied by former British Eagle Chief Flight Engineer Ron Price.
